Want to put your favorite music in the game? In The Sims 3, you can add your own music in the game but take note that it must be in .mp3 format. If you have .wma or other formats, you must convert it first to .mp3.
Here are the steps to add custom music in The Sims 3:
- Locate your Electronic Arts folder – it should be in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Custom Music folder
- COPY your favorite songs in this folder
- In the game, have your Sim turn in the radio and select “Custom Music” as the station.
That’s it! You have added your custom music in The Sims 3.
For the custom background music (build, buy, neighborhood, create), not sure if it could be done like in The Sims 2 but we will post it on this site if we learn how to do it.
My mp3’s don’t work! they’re not playing in the custom selection
I’ve done it like a million times and it still plays the songs that were originally on custome music.
This doesn’t work! I’ve tried it several times and it always fails. I don’t think people actually try it but rather post things to quickly.
Yeah…I think the ball was sorta dropped with this one.
Kinda hard to explain how I deleted the default songs, put in my mp3 format music, and it STILL somehow plays the default songs. -_-’
For me it either won’t play anything or it plays a very high-pitched scratchy noise. I AM using Mp3’s…
I know when you convert MP3’s (not saying I did, they started out as MP3’s) you can choose bit rate and frequency or somethin. So like instead of 44000, you choose 12500 (12500 is what Source games use so…)
there is also a music folder in c:program in electronic arts/sims3/gamedata/shared/nonpackaged/custommusic and there is the same files in there delete them u get rid of default songs my problem is now theres no songs at all dunno if its the same for anybody else
Works perfectly for me, thanks!
Please be aware that people are getting confused as to which folder they should be putting the file in, i had been making the same mistake myself and putting the files in the C:/ Drive folder’s there are, but there is also another folder under my documents that is the actual folder we should be dealing with..
I agree with what the person above (Rhys) said. I was not sure which folder to use, and I thought I was doing the right thing by using the Custom Music folder in the C drive. I was wrong. I just now found out that there is one in My Documents! Thank you very much Rhys for helping me figure that out!
wow i had the same prob i put the songs on the C drive.thank you rhys for correcting it = ] thanks alot ^^ merry christmas people !! (even if it passed)
